Ramblin’ Fords are a self-contained, extremely versatile professional brother and sister act, consisting of Hank who plays the electric guitar and a set of bass pedals (with his feet), and Michele who plays the drums. They both sing as well.
Hank started his musical career at the age of 9 when he started playing the violin at school. He played in the combined schools orchestra at The Hippodrome, Great Yarmouth, for several successive Christmas concerts until in 1973, at the age of 15, he finally swapped the violin for the electric guitar. He then played lead guitar in a group called Eclipse, which he formed with 5 school friends. In 1978, when the group disbanded he went solo as Hank Ford playing at various venues across Norfolk and Suffolk developing his own style of humour and music combination.
At the age of about 5, his sister Michele started singing with him on stage, gradually becoming a valuable asset to the act over the next 8 years. Then in the spring of 1986, at the age of just 13, Michele started to learn how to play the drums. They found that this was a natural talent of hers as she became an expert in a very short space of time!! The act really took off, and in 1989 when she left school, Hank left his day job at the cash and carry, and they turned professional overnight! They started to travel further afield and are now well established all over East Anglia.
Michele now plays the ELECTRONIC drums instead of the normal acoustic drum kit, which not only saves time and space when setting up, but means that the volume can be kept low if required so people can hear themselves talk. With Hank playing the bass pedals it gives the duo a much fuller sound so they really do sound like a group!! If you book Ramblin’ Fords for your function, you can be sure of three things: firstly they are NOT TOO LOUD, secondly you will be singing and dancing all night, and finally, you will have such an enjoyable night that you will want to book them again!!
Both Hank and Michele are married, Michele in 1998 to Lewis, and Hank in 2001 to Gayle. Their other halves now instantly act as roadies and a fan club rolled into one!!
LATEST NEWS....... Michele had a baby girl in 2006, and Hank’s wife gave birth to a baby boy in 2007.
